Run Arena

Privacy Policy

Effective October 12, 2026

The short version

  • Run Arena has no accounts and no servers of its own. We don't collect, see or sell your data.
  • Your runs and progress live on your iPhone, with a backup in your own private iCloud that only you can read.
  • Your location never leaves your phone.
  • If you use Friends, other players can see your runner tag, name and level, and during a live race your distance and time.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking.

Who we are

Run Arena ("we", "us") makes the Run Arena app for iPhone and this website. This policy explains what the app does with your information. If you have a question, email support@runarena.app.

What stays on your phone

Run Arena stores your game on your iPhone:

  • Your profile: the name you choose, a photo if you add one, your level, XP, badges and gear.
  • Your runs and battles: date, distance, time, pace and results.
  • Your daily quests and streak.
  • Your running plan, and the answers you give when you set up the app, such as your goals.

We don't receive any of it.

Location

Run Arena uses your location only while you're running, to measure distance and pace along with your steps. With your permission it keeps measuring while your phone is locked or in your pocket during a run. Location is processed on your iPhone and never sent to us or to anyone else. Your route isn't saved: the app keeps each run's distance and time, not where you ran.

Motion & Fitness

Run Arena reads your steps from your iPhone's motion sensors. It uses them to check that a run is a real run, so only real runs earn XP, and to measure distance where GPS can't, like on a treadmill or indoors. This happens on your phone.

Health

If you allow it, Run Arena reads your past running workouts from the Health app to set your starting level, and saves your runs to the Health app as running workouts. Workouts read from Health become part of your Run Arena run history, which is included in your private iCloud backup (below).

Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with us or with third parties. You can change what Run Arena can read and write at any time in the Health app or in Settings.

Your private iCloud backup

So your progress survives a new phone or deleting the app, Run Arena backs up your profile (including your photo), runs and quest days to your private iCloud database, using Apple's CloudKit. It's stored in your iCloud account and only you can read it. We can't.

You can turn this off by switching off iCloud for Run Arena in Settings, and delete it in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.

Friends

Friends is optional. It uses Apple's CloudKit public database, with your iCloud account as your identity, so there's nothing to sign up for. We never see your Apple Account name or email.

When you use Friends, this is shared:

  • Your runner card: your runner tag, name and level. Anyone using Run Arena who searches for your tag can see it.
  • Friend requests and challenges: who sent them, the distance and start time of a race, and the short message that comes with them, visible to the two of you.
  • Live races: your distance and elapsed time while you race, visible to the friend you're racing.

Never your location, your route or your photo. You can remove a friend at any time in the app. To delete your runner card, email us and we'll remove it.

Photos

If you add a profile photo, you pick it from your library and it stays on your phone (and in your private iCloud backup). If you make a replay video, Run Arena reads the clips you filmed during a race to build it, and saves the finished video to Photos. None of this is sent to us.

Notifications

Run Arena's reminders, like your daily quests and run days, are scheduled on your phone. Friend requests and challenges reach you through Apple's push notification service. You can turn notifications off in Settings.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.

What we don't do

  • No advertising.
  • No analytics or third-party tracking SDKs in the app.
  • No tracking you across other apps or websites.
  • No selling or renting your data.

The duelists and monsters in Run Arena are fictional. Simulated runners' photos are generated images of people who don't exist.

This website

runarena.app is a static site with no cookies, no analytics and no forms. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which processes basic request information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

Children

Run Arena isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has shared information through Friends, email us and we'll remove it.

Your choices and deleting your data

  • Change location, motion, Health, Photos and notification permissions at any time in Settings.
  • Deleting Run Arena removes everything stored on your phone.
  • Delete your iCloud backup in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
  • Workouts saved to Health stay in the Health app, where you can delete them.
  • For Friends, remove your friends in the app, then email us to delete your runner card.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
